Bio

Rolando Marchesini is a composer based in Milan who has been writing and producing instrumental music for about 20 years.

He began studing music since he was a child. When he was a teenager he played the guitar and mandolin in several bands and started writing his first songs. Soon he began to explore his musical vocation and broaden his horizons through different musical genres ranging from acoustic, electronic to orchestral.

In 1985, at the age of 19, Rolando moved to Milan to study Foreign Languages and Literatures. He played in small clubs periodically to ear a living. He spent time with other musicians and in this period he increased his interest in the music production process. A few years later he opened a small recording studio with a friend.

During the ’90s Rolando took lessons in piano and composing, he has composed and produced music for shorts (“Mano di Fata“, “Limen“) and advertising for italian and foreign production companies (Pirelli, Bionike, Atkinson, Lavazza, North Sails). From here on, writing music for images has become his main interest and occupation.

Work

Rolando’s first credit as a film score composer arrived in 2009 for Tre Lire Primo Giorno by Andrea Pellizzer, winner of the Golden Palm and Best Foreign Film at the 2009 Beverly Hills Film Festival.

After 2009 other credits include scores for Un Sogno Serio by Andrea Pellizzer, Fuoriscena (Opening Act) by Massimo Donati and Alessandro Leone. In 2011-2012 he wrote the music for the documentaries Solo, racing across America and Salar by Morgan Bertacca and in 2016 he wrote the score for the film My Name Is Adil by Adil Azzab.

Rolando has just finished composing the music for the film-documentary Stories Of Stones by Alessandro Leone.

Recently he is composing music for a theatrical production.
